New Repulic Says Bush The Real Flip Flopper
In this month’s New Republic, Jonathan Chait follows the evolution of the "flip-flop" in this year’s presidential campaign. Analyzing 37 Kerry "flip-flops" listed on the Bush campaign website, Chait concludes only six are "legitimate reversals" ? meaning, "an attempt to abandon a politically unpopular stance." By this count, Chait writes, "defining flipflopping as the essence of Kerry’s nature is ridiculous." Chait compares Kerry’s list of flip-flops to "those of noted Man of Principle George W. Bush," based on a list compiled by American Progress. Of the 30 flip-flops we list on our site, according to Chait, "13 are indisputable reversals." Chait writes, "You could debate which man has flip-flopped more. But one thing is clear: If a stranger unfamiliar with the campaign examined the two men’s records, he would never conclude that Kerry is a serial flip-flopper and Bush is the embodiment of inconsistency."
Even though there were many warnings (without specific dates or places) of future attacks in America (Presidential Report from August 2001) the President did nothing. The CIA did nothing. Nobody put pressure anywhere to try to avoid a possible attack. The question everybody was asking and nobody could answer was ?how come nobody thought or did anything to defend America??.
One remote possibility that has not been discussed by anybody on TV, but thought by me a lot is: Maybe they (Rumsfeld, Cheney, and/or those top advisers) decided to wait for the attack before doing something. Why? Because you can?t defend the country and appear to be a hero if you are not attack first (the Nation becomes united after an attack, like when Pearl Harbor happened). If you are not attack first you have no reason to go to another country like Afghanistan (this decision was right). The problem was that after being in Afghanistan they attacked Iraq (the solid evidence were not photos or videos, but only Mr. .Chalabi pseudo-intelligence and fake documents from Nigeria that Ambassador Wilson tried to explain as possible false), with the excuse of a possible attack or help to terrorist ?in the future?.
I?m not saying that they knew were and when. Just that they decided to wait for the attack. Maybe Bush new this (maybe not). Maybe those 7 minutes were he didn?t move in that school in Florida was because he was surprise that it happened but that there was nothing he was going to do immediately (maybe because Cheney is in charge of the Presidency as many people claim). Bush said that he didn?t want to scare the children so he didn?t jump from his chair, but the first speech he gave was on front of this kids (?).
If the top aids knew something was coming and did nothing in purpose, is scary to think that they are going to be reelected because they are protecting the country so well.
